全4回続いてきた、私の新しいダンスの教え方シリーズ。最終回です。
4. 自分で練習することの大切さ
ダンススクールに通っていると、多くのダンサーにとっては週に1,2時間のレッスンを受けて、帰るというのが普通かもしれません。
そしてお家でいる時間は練習しないことも。
それって、価値のある時間を無駄にしているなと感じます。
毎日学校に行くかのようにダンスに没頭できたら、すぐに上手になる。
そういう思いがあって、今ではダンスがない日に、自分でダンスにおいて考えてきてほしい課題を渡すようにしています。
これは強制や罰でもなく、一生懸命何かに取り組む習慣をつけることが目的であったり、レッスンでやったことを自分のものに完全に体得したりというのが目的です。
そうすることで、ダンサーたちは自分たちのアートを洗練させていくことができます。私が監督していなくても。
Free∞Spiritで教えている私の生徒たちは、課題をダンスで解決してくることを楽しんでいて、それによってポジティブな成果が表れてきてもいます。

自分で課題に取り組みダンスをブラッシュアップする–ことについてお話してきました。
この4つのセオリーは、私だけで考え編み出していったものでは決してありません。これまで数年間、いろいろな情報や人から学んで見出してきたものです。
感謝と称賛をKevin Paradox, Batalla, Nicki, Shaadow, Noesisx, The Flooridians, Dimension, Kxnsept, Nickel Yudat に。そして他の多くのダンサーからもインスピレーションをもらってきました。
新しい手法でのダンスレッスンは既に生徒に実践していて、とてもいい変化が見えてきています。このメソッドで、自分自身も、Free∞Spirit Dance Academyの生徒たちもいい結果が将来見えると嬉しいです。

4. The Importance of Practicing at Home
Many dancers show up once or twice a week to class, take the class for an hour or two, then go home. They don’t practice at home.
I feel like a lot of valuable time is being wasted.
If dance was treated like class in school, students could learn at a faster rate. With this in mind, I now give my students dance homework to complete during the week when they aren’t in class.
This is not punishment, more for disciplinary purposes to instill the importance of hard work, and to review what was covered during class so that they have more time to refine their craft, even when I’m not supervising.
My students enjoy doing dance homework assignments, and the positive results are clearly evident.
Now, I cannot take credit for all these theories and approaches to dance. These have been the culmination of many years studying from different sources and dancers.

I’ve already began practicing my new training methods with my kids, and am seeing great results.
